Howcome lot of sports, GT racing car is rear-wheel drive? Does the rear wheels are better than 4wd on a race track
You know like the Corvette, Ferrari, Viper, Lamborgini, Saleen, most of the rear wheels and should have a good track car, so the rear wheels for better handling at both ends? Learning curve Besides .... I think Indy cars and even Formula One cars rear wheels, why Subaru or Porsche 4wd thinking so big? What if you had two Carrera and Carrera 4 that weighs SAME weight, as they added their weight to match, would it matter? Or will win 4wd car? Can you faster on the corner of a 4wd? Or if you really both in racing does not really matter whether it's rear or all wheel drive?
I own shop, a race car & truck, and I can tell you this; As race car driver, I think no one can be compared with rear-wheel drive for handling in curves. Because of the way ahead, or four-wheeled vehicles handle in a curve, There just is not much control over where the vehicle was running once started sliding sideways. Using the rear wheels to make the vehicle go, and use the front wheel steering allows for exceptional control when trying to make the vehicle go where you want to go, and not where he wants to go, is not a contest. Each wheel 4, or front wheel vehicle will pushed into a corner, and when it began to slide there is no way to use a sling shot effect to make the vehicle back straight. They will go straight to the wall every time, and so no unexpectedly when you use the gas pedal to make it go away. In other words, you can not use the accelerator, or brake in a curve, or you loose control of the route the vehicle will go. Ask anyone who has ever run a car, and they'll say the same thing. A rear wheel drive vehicles can be taken out of the curve from the middle of the curve with the gas pedal floored. Try this with 4 wheel drive, and will continue to come out of the curve, rather than pushing the front end of the curve directly. I could go almost two times faster through curves with rear-wheel drive, than I can with front or four wheel drive. I do not know why Subaru, or even much thought Porsche four-wheel drive that will be accepted on the track, let alone the street. Maybe both in the snow, but beyond that, what's the point? Sometimes what some people think is a great idea, apparently about the most stupid idea ever proposed. Glad to help, Good Luck!
