Lose the cables and battery light flashes in Ford Contour?
I have a 1998 Ford Contour and my battery light was flashing on and off sometimes for a few weeks. The battery is new and fully charged and I checked my alternator and also work well. Now I'm thinking that the problem was a loose cable or as friends told me, maybe a belt. I prefer to do it myself if it's easy to fix so I do not have to pay anyone. Can anyone tell I am exactly what I was looking for?
Find a spot on the belt where there is a reasonable range without the pulley on the road. Put your thumb on it (engine off of course) and pushing. How many much to do it biased? If more than just a little, replace belts,. Next take the negative battery terminal off, then the positive, clean them well and the battery terminal, then petition again make sure they are tight. Are the lights still blinking? If not, you keep it. If so, go see your mechanic, you've done everything you can.
